Timings: Registration & breakfast 8.00am
Meeting commences 8.30am - 9.30am

Networking - 9.30am - 10.00am

This is a pivotal time for Yorkshire manufacturing, as businesses look to emerge from the economic downturn with strong growth plans, both domestically and in export. Our breakfast debate will address the key issues and challenges facing manufacturers, including:

  • Experts say the economic recovery will be export-led. How can Yorkshire compete with the low-wage economies of the emerging markets?
  • How will the manufacturing sector influence Yorkshire's new LEPs? What can the LEPs do to assist the manufacturing sector?
  • Does UK government legislation help or hinder the manufacturing sector? What should we focus our lobbying efforts on?
  • Does Yorkshire do enough to shout about the excellent work taking place in advanced manufacturing and nuclear?
  • Nuclear will become our biggest supply chain in the coming years - how can Yorkshire maximise its opportunities?
  • How can we inspire young people to become manufacturing's next generation? Are we investing enough in apprenticeships?

Our panel will include:

Dennis Turner, Chief Economist, HSBC,

Brian McKenzie, Vice-President for UK and Europe, Firth Rixson

Terry Scuoler, Chief Executive, EEF

Peter Hoy, Managing Director, Macalloy

(along with other leading figures from manufacturers, industry bodies and the public sector.)
