Fripp Design launch their new website

10/02/2009

Fripp Design, based at the Advanced Manufacturing Park Technology Centre, has launched a brand new website. The site reflects how Fripp’s business has grown since moving into the AMP Technology Centre.

Tom Fripp, Design Director at Fripp Design says;

"We wanted a site that better reflected the quality and breadth of clients we are now attracting. We continue to attract individuals with a great idea who need our help but, in more recent times, we're attracting blue chip clients who, typically, want us to refresh an existing brand or look at ways of enhancing an existing product line; we think the new site communicates this succinctly".

Tom also used Fripp's expertise to create an unusual present for his father's 60th birthday. His dad owns a 1931 Morgan three wheeler Supersport and Tom thought it would be a great idea to build him a full colour 1:10 scaled model. The problem was; there wasn't any commercially available kits for him make it from. So he decided to build his own model, from scratch, using the Product Design and Rapid Prototyping skills at Fripp Design.

Working from photographs he faithfully recreating the car's parts and dimensions using Solidworks. He then applied colour to the model using Magics from Materialise, before building the model on Fripp's ZCorp 510 3D colour printer. The printer can take a 3D CAD file and build a 3 dimensional model from it. When the model came out of the printer it was amazingly lifelike, and gave Tom's dad the perfect present.
