Fripp Design Money

03/09/2009

Sheffield based Fripp Design Limited were approached by the Design Council to participate in a project about money. In essence, if money did not exist, how would you design it for the 21st Century?

"Although there was no financial gain to Fripp Design in undertaking this project, we thought it was such a neat question to ask, we just had to respond" stated Neil Frewer, Creative Director at Fripp "If you think about it paper is such a difficult material to deal, especially when it has value beyond its actual worth"

Fripp Design were one of two design companies, whose idea was selected for inclusion in the Design Council's magazine Issue 6 (visit http://www.designcouncil.org.uk/Documents/DCM/6DCM/DCM6_ColourofMoney.pdf to see the full article).

It was the fresh and innovative approach to protecting the value of money which caught the Design Councils eye "We are delighted the Design Council saw merit in our approach and solution to the challenge they set us" continued Frewer "we looked at many ideas using old fashioned sketching, we selected what we thought was the best idea and developed through to concept, developed in CAD and finally prototyped on our in house ZCorp 3D Printer.
