Shelley Rudman was victorious at today's World Cup skeleton bob race at Igls in Austria, breaking the track record in the process. This marks this season’s first win for a skeleton bob developed at the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP).

The 27-year-old, partner of Kristan Bromley from Bromley Performance Sports, completed her first run in 55.10 seconds to leave her in second place behind fellow Brit Amy Williams. She then produced a fantastic effort on the second attempt to finish in 54.65 secs and set an overall track record with a combined time of 1:49.75.

The win is a remarkable for feat for Rudman who only returned to the sport this season after the birth of daughter Ella-Marie with Kristan.

Rudman came tenth in the season's first World Cup race in Winterberg, Germany on November 28 and improved on this a week later to finish an impressive seventh at the track in Altenberg. The victory lifts her to fifth place in the official rankings for the Womens Skeleton Bob, as outlined by the governing body, FIBT.

She will now head for Italy to compete in the next stage of the World Cup at the Cesana track before arriving home in the UK just days before Christmas.
