The proceedings commenced with a welcome from YABA’s Chair, Andrew Burton followed by an introduction by Ben Hendry, Partner at Nabarro LLP. Ben explained their proud association with Yorkshire Association of Business Angels and their commitment to supporting young, growing businesses, informing the audience about their new product offering, fixed price legal products for SMEs.

The forum continued with ten entrepreneur presentations from a variety of industry sectors; from a company processing, marketing and distributing organic odourless horse manure pellets, to a software product which is able to recreate the acoustics of any space; from a business which has developed and is selling a pallet transfer machine, to a healthcare company which is developing a biofilm resistant coating for catheters

YABA's Company Secretary and General Manager, Barbara Greaves summed up the meeting with an update on activity at the Association since the September investment forum - six new angel investor members have joined plus five associate members which are: Knowles Warwick, Blue Wealth Group, Positive Tax Solutions, Denison Till and York Professionals and the good news continued, first with a deal announcement; £70,000 invested by an angel member in Composite Door Company which presented at the last forum and secondly with the news that YABA has been selected to run the Investment Competition at Venturefest Yorkshire on 16 February 2011.  Angel members will receive free VIP entry to the one day event held at York Racecourse which includes entry to the Investment Competition followed by a private lunch for members.  Further details will follow in the New Year.  We are currently looking for innovative, science and technology based companies to enter the Competition which includes a prize worth £30,000 of business services and cash and the opportunity to present to an audience of angel investors and VC's.  Applicants should contact YABA to discuss the process further.
